French 75

A cocktail that looks more difficult than it is to make, the French 75 is a New Orleans staple that fits elegantly onto your next brunch menu, as a nightcap after a beautiful dinner by the lake, or simply by the pool. This drink is citrus-forward and slightly complex from the botanicals found in gin, yet highly approachable, lightly effervescent, and delightfully refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Josh Cellars Prosecco

  • A splash of lemon juice & simple syrup

  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Directions

  1. 1

Combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, cover it, and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.

  2. 2

Strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer (or a slotted spoon) into a champagne flute.

  3. 3

Top with Prosecco and garnish with a lemon twist.

Make It Your Own
With notes of pear and apple from our own Prosecco and the herbal complexities of the gin from our friends at Gray Whale, this drink craves to be customized to make it your drink of the summer. Want something a bit sweeter? Try adding fresh blackberries or blueberries, which can soak up the Prosecco and offer a boozy sweet pop. Want some additional herbaceousness? Muddle a few mint leaves into the shaker before adding your liquids, creating a mint julep’y riff on the French 75 topped with just the right amount of bubbles.
